Tablescapes in Glass
1 Day Workshop | $275
Cincinnati | July 13, 2012 | 9am-5pm

A lusciously decorated table enhances everything from the simplest impromptu brunch, to the most elaborate celebratory dinner. Wedding parties, holiday events and more can be graced with the tabletop items made with your personal touch on reverse-painted (or verre eglamise) glass chargers, trays and servers.
Your imagination is the only limit to the creative uses for the glass techniques you will learn during the TABLESCAPES in GLASS workshop. Using inexpensive tempered glass, gold and silver leaf, water-based paints, stains and stencils, we will create gorgeous coordinated glass items to layer or use on their own. All materials can be leftover craft supplies, or found at local finishing studios and craft stores.
The thing is - you have to learn to create in reverse! In one day you will master the basics of preparing the glass, what is durable, and how to finish off the piece to showcase your table. Then with the basics conquered, we will explore design possibilies using leaf, handpainted watercolor effects, stencils and more glass, not to mention crystals, and found objects.
The piece de resistance? You will be able to enjoy your masterpieces in your own home, give them as gifts, or make extra money selling online and in quaint shops, or by taking custom orders! (Debbie sells on Ebay, in her studio and at The High Point Furniture Market through a showroom.)
When you leave, you will bring home a small charger, a large charger to layer it with, a serving tray with feet and one more piece of your choice. Plus care instructions and ideas for a lovely gift card you can enclose for those special occasion gifts!
Debbie Hayes owns 13-year-old Faux Design Studio, Inc. in Greensboro, NC. Check out her website at ilovefaux.com for a tour of her new studio, more workshops, and inspiring faux finishing project photos.
Debbie learned the basics of her glass techniques from Melanie Royals, added to her experience on a project trip to Umbria with Melanie and Gary Lord, then came home and imagineered her own take on the magic that can be made with a simple piece of tempered glass!
