Lightening Up Dark Paneling
Great Paint Finishes for a Gorgeous Home - Chapter 4

Step 4
Evenly wipe off the face of your boards. The grooves may appear lighter than the face of the board at this time. The grooves are usually more porous than the face and will accept and retain more glaze color.

Step 5
Your boards should look like this after you have wiped them off.

Step 6
Cut back into your outside clean edge with your new wet edge and repeat steps two through four on the next set of boards. Remember to stain no more than two to four boards at a time.
