Wallscapes in Glass

1 Day Workshop | $275
Cincinnati | July 14, 2012 | 9am-5pm

A simple, elegant, timeless art installation in glass with a nearly invisible custom wall mount - that's Debbie Hayes' concept for Wallscapes.

Use one piece in a cozy nook, or dozens to make a massive statement, gallery-style over a sofa or in a fabulous restaurant.

Use these lovely art pieces in your own home or studio, give them as gifts, sell them online! The materials are inexpensive, can be left over from your many projects, or found easily at faux finishing suppliers and local craft stores. Even the salvage yard and the kids' toybox can yield tiny treasures you can incorporate.

The trick is - you have to learn to create in reverse! You'll learn the basics of preparing the glass, what is durable, and how to finish off the piece to show on the wall. Then with the basics mastered it will be time to explore all of the possibilies - from foil and leaf, to hand-painted watercolor effects, to adding stencils and layering the effects with extra glass. Not to mention crystals, and found objects. And a surprise, discovered in Barcelona in an art studio...

The piece de resistance for the wall art pieces is Debbie's custom-designed metal wall mount, complete with hardware and hanging instructions, which will be available for sale at the workshop.

Debbie Hayes learned the basics of her techniques from Melanie Royals, added to her experience on a project trip to Umbria with Melanie and Gary Lord, then came home and brewed up her own take on what can be done with a simple piece of tempered glass.

Lessons from her Etsy shop and her Dion Hayes Design Studio glass art line, showcased at the High Point Furniture Market will be shared.
