Renew, Reuse, Recycle: Makeover Faux with Rebecca Slaton

Going green is more then trendy marketing. Eco-friendliness is a design principle that can be a source for creativity and prosperity. As a decorative artist, you can show your clients easy ways to save money and the planet by renewing many surfaces in their homes. Rebecca Slaton will show you economical transformations for wood, tile, plastics, metal and other unusual finishes using a variety of products including Foils, Concentrated Stains, Spatter Gel, Low Viscosity Glazes, and Rapid Rust. You will leave this 2-day class with 15 samples including: Our Raku and Silver Retro Fireplace Tile, Black Cherry and Tarnished Hologram Furniture Foil, Mosaic Relief Backsplash, and Antiquity Glass.

Rebecca is the lead instructor at Surface's School of Decorative Finishing, a Faux Effects Gold Label Studio, located in Kansas City. Her residential and commercial work has been featured in national publications, Decorate with Paint and Faux Effects World , and local publications including the Kansas City Star , Kansas City Home & Garden , and Kansas City Design. Rebecca has also taught several cabinetry classes for Faux Effects, demonstrated at Meeting of The Masters and IDAL, and was featured in the Associated Press Story, "Born Again Cabinets"published in papers nation-wide. She has a BS in Public Relations and Consumer Economics and an MPA from the Bloch Graduate School of Business.
